LSA believes that if we can connect the Indianapolis church with the AIDS pandemic and with what our South African partners are doing, then we can accomplish two goals.
First, we can help awaken the “sleeping giant” that is the American church to fulfill her role as the hands and feet of Christ. We do this by not only showing her the high and terrible cost of her indifference and apathy, but by also introducing her to our partners who are able to paint a picture of an “untamed”, “fearless” gospel that is transforming and saving countless lives.
Simultaneously, as the church is awakened she will begin to serve our South African partners, thus allowing them to more effectively bring down the “giant” that is AIDS at its epicenter.
The HIV Positive Experience is an interactive experience that is being developed to bring the AIDS pandemic in KZN to Indianapolis. LSA realized that because of limited availability of space on our trips we needed to develop a way for people to experience South Africa without having to leave the city.
This experience, which is in beta testing phase, will lead people through a series of stations that are designed to give a full perspective of HIV in KZN and what LSA and our partners are doing to combat it. At the end of the experience individuals will be given a variety of practical ways to get involved.
This experience is designed to connect groups of 8-10 people to our partners’ incredible work and will take approximately an hour from beginning to end. You will hear firsthand accounts of life in the valley, experience the sights and smells of KZN, and see how LSA and our partners are helping to alter the trajectory of the AIDS pandemic.
